Ping

Worried about your servers going down without you noticing? Don’t worry, a simple Ping plugin will give you a notice as soon as it happens. The Ping plugin has the ability to ping 5 predefined hosts at a defined interval and outputs the pingback time (in milliseconds) or triggers an output if the time exceeds a defined threshold.

The example illustrated below shows how the TriggerCounter is used to count severe delays when pinging servers. The TriggerCounter makes sure that we don’t react upon a single error but takes action when it happens several times.
